This is not the way one makes peace...

PEACE TALK WITHOUT PEACE VISION

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's much anticipated policy speech about his peace intentions was suffused with peace rhetoric, but it was starkly short on a peace vision.

The Sunday night speech at the Begin-Sadat Peace Centre at Bar Ilan University spotlighted a leader quintessentially focused on a single target - political survival: survival between conflicting challenges - that from a U.S. President who wants a Palestinian-Israeli peace based on two states, and that from his own right-wing coalition which rejects outright the concept of an independent Palestinian state.

The Palestinian chief negotiator, Saeb Erekat, declared dismissively that Netanyahu would have 'to wait a thousand years' before Palestinians would be ready to accept his terms.

Little wonder the Palestinians sounded sorely disappointed: Netanyahu gave no commitment to end the occupation, reiterated Israel's determination to retain the whole of Jerusalem as its 'united capital', rejected any possibility of a compromise on Palestinian refugees, and even had fulsome praise for the Jewish settlers in the West Bank whom he called 'Israeli pioneers'.

For all these shortcomings, the Obama Administration was listening for one thing, and one thing only: would the Israeli prime minister finally acknowledge the necessity for a Palestinian state? He may have squirmed at the buzzword but, in the end, Netanyahu did utter the phrase over which he has balked ever since his election back in February.

He did so only on strict conditions: 'If we get a guarantee for demilitarisation and necessary security arrangements for Israel, and if the Palestinians recognise Israel as the state of the Jewish people, we will be willing in a real peace agreement to reach a solution of a demilitarised Palestinian state alongside the Jewish state,' he said.

The Netanyahu calculation seems to have been clear-cut - that, in the end, the Palestinians will save him from himself by rejecting his terms as the basis for resuming peace talks. It's as if Netanyahu had put his foot in Barack Obama's peace door ostensibly to prize it further open whereas, in reality, all he has done is to have put his foot in the door so as to trip up the Palestinians so that they fall before entering the Obama peace room.

Netanyahu had been warned by his own camp not to succumb to the demands that he finally state his readiness to accept a future Palestinian state in the West Bank. In domestic political terms, by coming to terms with a degree of Palestinian sovereignty, he has crossed some sort of right-wing Rubicon.

But, his formulation was in the end so niggling that his own Likud party ideologues - and even the settlers themselves - say they don't consider his commitment a tangible threat to the settlement enterprise. They will only be really alarmed, they say, if Netanyahu allows the Palestinian state eventually to begin taking shape.

'We don't like it but we can live with it,' said Dani Dayan, a settler leader. Many Netanyahu supporters praised the prime minister for 'skilfully circumventing international pressure.'

Israel's modus operandi during 20 years of failed peacemaking with the Palestinians has often been problematic. Even when successive governments demonstrated a genuine commitment to move the peace process forward, it was invariably accompanied by the creation of new realities on the ground and, in turn, the subsequent positing of new conditions to the Palestinians.

That inevitably impeded real progress towards peace. The continuing expansion of settlement building and dramatic increases during that period in the settler population - even as Israel was engaged in peace talks - is the starkest example of that.

Enter a new reality - this time, a reality shaped not by Israel, but by a U.S. Administration that assesses Israel's policies vis-à-vis the Palestinians first and foremost in terms of U.S. national interests.

Wisely, the U.S. took Netanyahu's acceptance of a Palestinian state at face value. U.S. officials deftly side-stepped the Israeli leader's constraints. His speech was termed 'an important step forward.'

A White House statement said 'President Obama believes this solution can and must ensure both Israel's security and the fulfilment of the Palestinians' legitimate aspirations for a viable state, and he welcomes Prime Minister Netanyahu's endorsement of that goal.'

For all the reluctance of his government partners to embrace the Obama peace vision, Netanyahu may well have managed to consolidate his coalition. On the other hand, the prime minister now faces the prospect of being hoisted by the Administration on his own Palestinian state petard: the U.S. seems determined to push hard on the peace process - whether or not the Palestinians are prepared to subscribe upfront to the Israeli conditions.

Netanyahu's whole speech was carefully calibrated to securing a U.S. tick for their position on how to proceed towards resolving the Middle East conflict in the hope that that would put him in a position to press the U.S. to deliver on Israel's concerns about Iran's nuclear quest, said Yaron Dekel, political analyst at Israeli public television. The weekend election results in Iran may indeed have boosted Netanyahu's hopes in this regard.

It's far from certain, however, that the U.S. will allow Netanyahu to skip over the real issues that still need to be addressed in order to transform the present verbal commitments to peace into a tangible peace process: in his speech, Netanyahu again brushed off the U.S. absolute settlement freeze demand. He's unlikely to get off that easily.

"You Never Fail Until You Stop Trying"

.............

Once upon a time, there was once a 100m sprinter who was very much in depression and despair with his failure in Beijing Olympics game. This athletics guy always win gold medal in every competition. The failure to win a medal in Beijing was regarded as a big flop in his career as a professional athlete. He had almost lost his self-confidence and his future doesn't seemed too bright at that moment of time. People started to doubt and critic his performance. Until one day, his coach told him to 'head-up' and strive harder for the coming olympics game.

When he regained his confidence, he worked hard day and night, slogging his body and mind just to make something out of himself. He gave his full commitment and willpower towards improving his performance. Finally, with all these hard work and with the help and support from his family and friends, this guy achieved his goal. He showed a better performance in the London Olympics game and successfully retained his gold medal. Plus, it was considered as his best performance ever as he broke the 20-year-long world record. He proved his critics wrong.

The end.

1st Intensive Rugby Training... the aftermath.

it was hard
it was tough
it was exhausting
it was sooo killing me
and it clearly defined the meaning of "intensive"...

today's training was the 1st session
there will be more 'test n trial' after this
it lasts for 1 month
only 25 will be selected out of a pool of around 40 players
the competition is tight
only persistent players who are strong, physically and mentally, will survive.

i admit my endurance level is at zero!!
need to give extra effort and determination to improve my stamina
and skill as well
insyaAllah...will try to go all-out on every training session.

that's all
thank you.

Out- Final, In- Holiday.

'hey hey final exam. u're out man!! c u again next time..'

let me tell u sumthing mr Final.
the 3 weeks of excessive struggle has caused me great stress. you took advantage of my last-minute-study habit n sentenced me to a period of wakeful nights. even your associates, mostly, have put me into tough times; the foundation of islamic economics was the toughest of all to beat, statistics gave me trauma for a week, and the 'killer-subject' accounting was so killing me. while the rests; ungs, macroeconomics, and ict had showed some mercy n were somewhat good. on the whole, im glad the battle has ended. the result which will be issued on the 28th april will decides who'll win. hopefully the result will,at least, be worth my struggle. insyaAllah..

'and now. say halooo to holidays..! Please welcome..'

for this short break, i'll make sure that the below stuffs be accomplished :
1. hang out with my best buddies. (peja,hana,dane..sile aturkn jadual anda bersama saye plz)
2. play futsal.
3. finish up menonton my hard disk's movies.
4. facebook-ing till late nite.
5. make some 'groundwork' for the upcoming masum games.
6. most importantly, SLEEP SLEEP N SLEEP for as long as mama doesn't bising2 at me.

Peace! =)

Pertubuhan Kebangsaan Melayu Bersatu (PKMB)

Keputusan Pemilihan Majlis Tertinggi, Pergerakan Pemuda, Wanita & Puteri UMNO.

Presiden - Datuk Seri Najib Razak

Timb. Presiden - Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin

Naib Presiden - Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein
Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi
Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal

Ketua Pemuda - Khairy 'Setiakawan' Jamaluddin

Ketua Wanita - Datuk Seri Shahrizat Jalil

Ketua Puteri - Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid

dan 25 ahli Majlis Tertinggi yg lain..

Congratulations! I congratulate all the winners who made it to the new line-up for the MT UMNO posts. It can be observed that the new line-up consists of a combination of old and new faces, which i think is good. And it's good also to hear that my first-rate leader; Tan Sri Muhyiddin and Datuk Seri Hishammuddin, bagged the Deputy President and Vice President post respectively. Bt somehow, there are few things that I would like to argue on the new line-up.

1- How come KJ be choosen for the Pemuda chief post???? The man who akin to show off his 'leadership value' with street demonstration. heh! Undeniably, he is good in giving speech, but i view it as a mean to seek publicity. I doubt his sincerety. Plus, he was accused of using 'money politics' during the campaign for UMNO election. He was questioned by the UMNO disciplinary board. Although he was freed from the accusation with just a 'warning' by the discplinary board, i believe, even the charge against him is enough to scrape off the trust of the people especially the youngsters. Why Mukhriz who stayed clean all the way throughout the campaign didn't get selected?? Bear in mind, he got the highest nomination compared to Khir Toyo and KJ. I doubt the selection of KJ as the Pemuda chief. Will he be able to gain back the trust of the youth to support UMNO? hurmmm~ Seriously dude.I doubt it..

2- Why are there so many unknown people in the MT posts??? I see it as a kind of joke. Why?? Note that even the MBs (mostly) failed to win this time around. Name it from Perlis,N.Sembilan, Pahang, and even Johor!! Why??What's going on here?? Are they not competent enough to deal with the reform agenda which will be implemented under Najib's administration? heyy.C'mon!? Even if there's a 'wind of change' in UMNO, the delegates should not vote out these significant MBs who, i believe, could lift up UMNO to a new stage. I hate to say this, but since there are many Najib's people in the newly-formed 25 MT line-ups, it seems like there had been some 'unethical' manner involved in vote-canvassing by the candidates. *curious.curious.curious*

3. Last but not least. Can Najib be a good PM?? As good as Mahathir? or even better? I don't want to talk much about it as we need to give him a time and opportunity to prove his capability in bringing back the trust of the Malays and the rakyat towards UMNO and BN. Let the upcoming small parliamentary election in three different areas be a test ground to the new UMNO leadership..

Who says MANU can't be beaten at Old Trafford?

Full Time
VS

1 - 4
('23 Ronaldo-pen)
('28 Torres)
('44 Gerrard- pen)
('76 Aurelio)
('90 Dossena)

It was a SUPERB performance showed by Liverpool. They came back from a goal down to seal the match with 4-1 victory over Manu. Credits to all Liverpool players! They were all in the great form and showed great confidence to beat the DEVILS at their home ground! *pfffftt. Remarkably, The Reds won both matches against the DEVILS at home n away this season. hebat bukan? I still believe Liverpool are capable to seize the premier league title from the DEVILS. Go Liverpool!! You'll Never Walk Alone!~

When 'The Devils' Meet 'The Reds'.

A BIG CLASH WILL HAPPEN!

United are seven points clear of Liverpool and a win at Old Trafford would virtually eliminate the Merseysiders from the title race...

Match Facts :
  • Earlier this season Liverpool recorded their first league win over United since April 2004 by winning 2-1 at Anfield. The victory was Rafa's first over United in nine league attempts. It was also Liverpool's 50th over United in league history.
  • There has been only one goalless draw between the sides in the Premiership. That came at Anfield in September 2005.
  • Liverpool have won eight of the 33 Premiership meetings with United winning 18.
  • Liverpool's biggest win at Old Trafford came in November 1936 when they beat United 5-2.
  • The Reds have won three times in the last eight visits to Old Trafford but have lost each of the last four. Those victories are their only successes at United in the last 17 visits.
  • Should United win it will be the first time in their history they have won five in succession against Liverpool at home in the league.
  • A win on Saturday will give Rafa Benitez his 100th league win as Liverpool manager in his 181st game. Only Kenny Dalglish (167) and Bob Paisley (179) would have done it quicker. By comparison it took Alex Ferguson 231 games to achieve the feat.
-adapted from www.liverpoolfc.tv-

p/s: I believe Liverpool can win tonight if they play as aggressive as what they have showed against Real Madrid..N I hope Benitez will not carry out any silly decision during tonight's match (e.g- substitute Gerrard for N'gog.NoOoOo!). May the best team wins! YNWA!!

WARNING LETTER??!!!!

hye,
esok exam ict. tp aku nk curi mase kejap je nk btau satu cite yg agak memeranjatkn aku n menyakitkn jiwa aku.

my mum texted me petang td... "hafiq..plz balik tonite. mama nk mintak tlg sket frm u.."
aku mmg xde plan lgsg nk blk arini since i hv exam tomorow.. bt since my mum dh ckp cemtu, aku blk la gak..ssmpai je umah. tensen melanda..jerit2 bg salam tp xde org dengar. aku expect mereka menantikn kepulanganku di rumah setelah sekian lame aku x blk. last2 aku cal abg aku suro bkk pintu..

then i go straight into my mum's room, n dengan penuh keihlasan menanya mamaku,
"mama nk mintak angah tlg buat ape ma?"
then she answered, "mama dpt surat dr universiti."
(huh!!) mse tu aku dh mula t'tnya2 surat ape sbnanye yg smpai..mase tu my dad pn ade dlm bilik. kemudian mama tnjuk kt sepucuk surat atas meja. lalu aku pn amek n tros bukak.

wtf!! a WARNING LETTER!!
aku tros bce n t'tnye2 lectrer mane yg issue warning letter tu..its from my ungs lecturer. Subjek ISLAM,KNOWLEDGE & CIVILISATION.
lalu aku tergelak bile tau warning letter tu is frm him..wakakaka! y??
bcuz aku bru je x dtg kls tu 2 kali..!! no kidding! bru twice times aku ponteng. tgk2 dh dpt warning letter tu..wut da hell kn?

tp my dad ttbe marah.
"npe awak senyum??! this is a serious matter!! cube awak cite sket ape awak dh buat smpai dpt warning letter ni!! abah n mama malu tau x!!"
huh.aku rse agak tertekan bile die marah2 cemtu..i didnt agree he got mad at me..he shud asked for my explaination 1st before he can marah2 at me..hurmm. bt lame2 bile die dh dgr my explaination n everything about diz warning letter, die cool down balik.

haihh..SERIOUSLY. THIS WARNING LETTER SHOULDN'T BE ISSUED PON!
i only absent for two times n yet my lecturer nk issue warning..let me tel u a little bit about d absenteesm rules kt uia nih..student must meet the 80% attendance requirement for every semester. If failed to do so, students will be barred from sitting the final exam..
hah.80% okay! aku bru absent 2x out of mayb 18 classes. lik bru 11.1% of absent. erghh! mmg aku akan g jmpe lecturer aku tu n tnye die npe die issue warning letter ni. oh btw, my lecturer is from Nigeria. hmm. last sem pn aku ade 'problem' ngan lecturer aku frm da same country gak. bkn aku nk naikkn issue racism ke ape, bt hal ni buat aku rse geram ngan mereka. mcm x gv consideration lgsg kt student. i've been treated unfairly in this situation. huh!

anway. aku xnk pkir lg psl bnde ni..geram gile. bt elemen kelaka pn ade..cuz x sgke dpt warning sbbkn 2x je x g kelas..weird sgt pd aku. kn? =P
tu je sdkt penceritaan psl "My 1st Warning Letter."
now. continue study! thanx for reading. =)

Thanks A Million!

Tips on how to spend a great time with your friends during weekend..
  • Go have a nice picnic together at Taman Tasik Perdana.

  • In the case of hot-sunny-day, head towards Jaya One to seek 'shelter' and ask your friend who are about to fly to aussie to belanja u drinks.
  • After that, shake hands with your friends, wish goodbye and go straight back home.
  • Say THANKS! to them afterward.

(Please do not misinterpret the message. Parental advisory is required)

And what's next?
As I go back to hostel...
Mid-sem exams+assignments+multiple college's tasks. huh.
I had enough rest, enough sleep, and enough time with my friends already during the weekend.
Thus, I believe, I'm all geared up for the busy and tough week ahead.
It will be tiring and depressing. I know.
But that's a norm in a student's life isn't it?
I pray to Allah,
May He gives me the strength to carry on with my responsibilities.

Facts On Rugby.

"RUGBY IS A BEASTLY GAME PLAYED BY GENTLEMEN" -
henry blaha

Overview:

Rugby is a free-flowing game that features a combination of strength, speed and strategy to move a ball into an opponents territory. Rugby is a full-contact sport yet players wear little-or no protective gear. Rugby evolved from football (i.e. soccer) and is often called the ‘game played in heaven’.

The game of football which was played at Rugby School between 1750 and 1823 permitted handling of the ball, but no-one was allowed to run with it in their hands towards the opposition's goal. There was no fixed limit to the number of players per side and sometimes there were hundreds taking part in a kind of enormous rolling maul. The innovation of running with the ball was introduced some time between 1820 and 1830. William Webb Ellis has been credited with breaking the local rules by running forwards with the ball in a game in 1823. Shortly after this the Victorian mind turned to establishing written rules for the sports which had earlier just involved local agreements, and boys from Rugby School produced the first written rules for their version of the sport in 1845.

Scoring:

There are 4 ways in which a team may score points in rugby:
  • Try - Five points when the ball is touched to the ground (”grounded”) in the opponents end zone.
  • Conversion - Two points for a kick through the uprights after a try is scored. The kick is taken on a line (parallel to the touch-line) which passes through the place where the ball was grounded. Thus, grounding the ball “between the posts” makes for an easier conversion attempt than if the ball is grounded near the side-line.
  • Drop Goal - Three points for ‘drop kicking’ the ball through the opponent’s uprights at anytime during play.
  • Penalty Kick - Three points for place-kicking the ball through the opponent’s uprights following an infraction by the opposition. Penalty kicks must be taken from the point of the infraction.

Positions:

1. Prop
2. Hooker
3. Prop
(All the front row of the scrum)

4. & 5. Lock forward
(second row of the scrum)

6. & 7. Flankers

8. Number 8 - usually the first link to the backs

9. Scrum Half

10. Fly Half

11. & 14. Wingers

12. & 13. Centers

15. Full back

The Song That Soothe to The Ear and The Heart.

"Music is what feelings sound like..."

ku mahu bercerita...

salam..
sudah berkurun ku tidak menonton wayang (the last time i spent on movie was "Batman. The Dark Knight"..im longing for a movie outing with my friends..haihh)
terima kasih.

New Year 2009!

hai..

today is NEW YEAR.
i wish all of u a very wonderful n prosperous year 2009..! =)

i just arrived home from uia.
its been a while since i last updated my blog.
so i guess i better do some updates while im still able to connect the internet. (bilik kt uia still xle connect internet)

its already been 2 weeks since the new semester started.
n im still tied with my busy schedule everyday n everynite.
i just pray to the Almighty that He will gives me the strength to carry on with my duties.

all my classes this semester r fine.
the lecturers r cool.
Prof. Yusoff's macroeconomics class is the most exciting class. so far.
it is the only class that i never get sleepy.
he just talk n talk n talk without bothering what the students are doing. ahaha.
i like his lecture though. so much!
(my friends might not agree with me on this..naah!u guys x enjoy study economics la.. =P)

before i end my writing.
i would like to share a quote with all readers n friends.
it is an economic quote quoted by my FIE lecturer.
(im not sure whether someone has quoted it first before he did)
i find it interesting cuz it gives a significant meaning to the economic world.

The quote, " Money to Economy Is Like Oil to Engine."

Read economy n you'll know the true meaning of it.. ;)
Nite!
